If you are lucky enough to live in Yorkshire then you have access to two of the most stunning and unspoilt areas of northern England – the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the North York Moors National Park.
Yorkshire Dales National Park
The Yorkshire Dales are a magical land of rivers, hills and valleys which includes the Pennine Watershed. This is incredibly popular for tourist sightseeing with 65% of visitors choosing to walk around this area of natural beauty and see all the geological features which give the dales so much character. Some landmark features include the Stump Cross Caverns, the Leck Fell Caves and the Gaping Gill System, the latter of which is a massive pothole which filters an eerie blue light down to the earth below.
North York Moors National Park
The North York Moors National Park is also very attractive and has a border with the eastern UK coastline. This part of the North Sea coast has amazing cliffs which make for great scenic walks with bracing fresh air. As one of the largest expanses of heather moorland in the United Kingdom, this is the ideal place for hiking, whether you go with a partner or a pet. It is also a fascinating expanse of moorland for anyone interested in geology as all aspects of the Jurassic period are represented in the landscape. Furthermore those who are interested in British wildlife can see unusual animals like the pygmy shrew and commonly found birds like the redshank. Those who live in the Badger Hill Park Homes can get to the Yorkshire Dales along the A59 road while both national parks are accessible along the A1 road heading north.
